Rising from the east shore of Loch Lomond to a height of 3,194ft, the Ben offers exhilarating walking and spectacular views all round.
The property, comprising 5,369 acres, also includes the summits of Ptarmigan (2,398ft), Sron Aonaich (1,893ft) and Beinn Uird (1,955ft).
An extensive repair programme has brought what was a major path erosion scar under control, and walkers can help by keeping to the path surface.
Reductions in sheep numbers, and fenced exclosures on the lower slopes, are allowing the regeneration of woodland and upland heath habitats.
The property, along with adjacent Forestry Commission land, was designated the Ben Lomond National Memorial Park in December 1995, to be held in perpetuity as a tribute to those who gave their lives in the service of their country, and is to be managed primarily with conservation principles in mind.
It was formally opened by the Rt Hon Donald Dewar, Secretary of State for Scotland on 11 November 1997.
